The color palette draws inspiration from grounded tones, emphasizing an organic and experimental aesthetic. The primary shade, Lab Brown, serves as the foundation, with its variations creating a cohesive palette that reflects balance and versatility. Complementing this is Lab Grey. These colors embody Missing Lab's commitment to blending grounded elements with the spirit of exploration and experimentation.
Since its inception, Missing Lab has embraced Space Grotesk as its typeface, a choice as grounded and versatile as the lab's design philosophy. With its distinctive 90º ascenders and descenders featuring sharp, rounded corners, Space Grotesk departs from the ordinary, much like the lab's approach to experimentation. With 5 weights in its family, it adds depth to Missing Lab’s overall design.
The name change from 尋人啟「室」 to 尋人啟「試」 retains the pronunciation (shì) while shifting the meaning from "lab" to "test." This subtle yet impactful change underscores the active, process-driven approach in alignment with Missing Lab's philosophy.
Rooted in the original Chinese phrase 尋人啟事 ("Missing Notices"), which inspired the name "Missing," the evolution reflects the lab's commitment to exploration and experimentation.
